Banyak makanan yang diketahui bisa menghilangkan stres, seperti cokelat atau es krim. Tapi ternyata ada jenis makanan lainnya yang bisa melawan stres dan membuat tubuh tetap sehat. Apa saja?
1. Bayam
Menurut Beth Reardon, RD, pakar nutrisi dari Duke Integrative Medicine in Durham, North Carolina, tiga mangkuk bayam bisa mensuplai 40 persen kebutuhan magnesium, yang merupakan mineral yang bisa mengurangi efek stres di dalam tubuh dengan cara mencegah tekanan darah melonjak. Masukkan bayam dalam omelet atau sandwich jika tidak terlalu suka memakannya terpisah.
2. Jeruk
Bahkan orang sehat yang sedang stres pun bisa kena sakit, demikian menurut studi yang dilakukan peneliti dari Carnegie Mellon University di Pittsburgh. Tensi darah sangat mempengaruhi sistem kekebalan tubuh. Namun hal itu bisa dilawan dengan konsumsi vitamin C rutin yang banyak terdapat dalam jeruk. Vitamin C akan memperbanyak sel-sel imun tubuh dan mengurangi risiko masuknya virus.
3. Cokelat
Sudah tidak heran lagi jika cokelat disebut sebagai makanan penghilang stres. “Cokelat akan meningkatkan level zat-zat neurotransmitter ke otak yang akan memicu pengeluaran hormon-hormon pembuat senang dan rileks seperti dopamin,” ujar Alan Hirsch, MD, direktur Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, Chicago.
4. Ikan
Kandungan omega 3 dalam ikan-ikan laut seperti salmon dan tuna bisa meningkatkan kemampuan otak dan mengurangi kepikunan. Dalam sebuah studi yang dimuat dalam Diabetes & Metabolism, partisipan yang mengonsumsi ikan tersebut selama 3 minggu diketahui mengeluarkan hormon anti stres yang lebih tinggi saat melakukan beberapa tes kognitif.
5. Gandum utuh
Vitamin B yang banyak terkandung dalam gandum utuh akan menstimulasi produksi hormon serotonin, sebuah hormon dan zat neurotransmitter yang akan mengirim sinyal menenangkan dalam otak. Elisa Zied, RD, pengarang buku Nutrition at Your Fingertips pun mengatakan bahwa gandum utuh akan dicerna tubuh secara perlahan sehingga hormon serotonin yang dikeluarkan pun akan bertahan lama.
