Here are some of the experience done during the Class of Conversation with the students of KPK 2010 and 2011. It was really fun to be with them.
- 1. Continuing words into make sense sentences/paragraph.
Make a group consisting of 5/8 people. Inform to the students that they have to continue the first word given by the lecturer in (let say) 15 minutes. Each of the students only says one word. The task of the students 1-5/8 is to say word that is linked. Ask 1 student to make notes of the words producing by the 5/8 students in group. At the end of practice, see the sentences producing by the group. It will be fun J.
- 2. Telling about picture in a given time.
The lecturer provides the pictures. Each student will be asked to tell the pictures in (let say) 10 minutes). Each student will be given the different picture. There is no preparation time given to the student before presenting to tell the picture. The picture is given just in time of presenting.
See how well their speaking.
- 3. Guessing
The lecturer provides the picture/word. Ask 1 student to describe the picture/word given. Ask the rest of the student in class to guess the picture/word.
- 4. Opening the brainstorming class.
Ask one student in every meeting of the class to open the class and giving question to all students to give opinion/comment about some issues/themes. Each of the students will get their turn to give opinion and comment.
- 5. Vocabulary Building.
The lecturer says the theme. Ask each or the student to state all the vocabulary dealing with the theme rose.
- 6. Stand for Argument
Prepare two groups of students. Give the two options for the students. Ask each group to stand for one choice and defend for their group’s choice.
- 7. Retelling the Song/Movie
Play songs/movies for the student. After it finish, ask the student to orally retelling the movie or the meaning of songs.
Notes: In every group of discussion/work, combine the (+) and ( –) students in term of ability. By doing this way, the (–) student will rapidly improve their skill by learning from friends.
